The cabins are located on an organic 40 acre goji berry farm. and were built at the turn of last century. The Artist Residence orginally served as a trading post, a post office and gas pumps. The complex became the center of our small village in San Cristobal. The villagers visited the post office and received their mail or bought something at the trading post. A tradition was to visit with the orginal owners in their kitchen to find out about the latest gossip over a cup of coffe.
The cabins initially housed sheep herders and later on visitors from all over the world. Aldous Huxley lived and wrote in on of the cabins and so did Frieda and D.H. Lawrence. Aldous Huxley built the outhouse that is still standing but no longer used 🙂 Later, Ram Dass and Elizabeth Kubler Ross visited the cabins.
During the summer we grow vegetables . Seasonally we also feature a petting zoo with baby chickens, lambs and goats. When the chickens are laying we offer fresh eggs. Our berries, fruits and vegetables are organically cultivated. The chickens are free ranging and the growth season has been extended by a newly constructed green house.
