Dorothy Brett Cabin
The Dorothy Brett cabin is one of four built at the beginning of last century, originally for sheep herders. Both Aldous Huxley and D.H. Lawrence lived and wrote in these cabins, Frieda Lawrence and Dorothy Brett were frequent visitors as well and later Elizabeth Kubler Ross and Ram Dass stayed here. The log cabin, designed for 1-2 people, has a cozy and quiet feel. The porch overlooks a flower garden and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
The cabin is a one room efficiency/duplex with a bathroom and kitchen. It is fully furnished and equipped. There is a wood burning stove and a propane heater. The water comes from our deep wells. Only green cleaners and detergents are used.
Nightly rates depend on the season: $68 – 79/night, plus tax and a cleaning fee. $10 extra pp.

“This is a magical little farm in the mountains… Lovely and clean cabins, fresh eggs from the hens in the back yard, sunshine and pleasant walking with Forest trails for hiking right across the road. I came for an extended stay, and just may have to extend it a bit longer – it will be hard to leave here!” – Krista from Airbnb
“The Dorothy Brett Cabin was a rustic cabin with a bedroom/living space, kitchen and bathroom. Unit was very clean. Location was excellent. Despite being attached to another cabin, you could hear absolutely no noise or talking in the unit next door. Even though it seems you are far from town, you are really not. Plus, it can be closer to other cool things so research what you want to do. You are about a couple miles off the main road so you don’t hear any road noise and at night, the stars are amazing. For the price, this place was a great value. The response time of the host was among the fastest I have ever seen. The owner, Sia, is very interested in your experience being good. Our toaster was not working and by the time we returned from being out, there was a new unit on the porch.” – William from Airbnb
“An incredibly cozy and peaceful spot! I had such a special stay in the breathtakingly beautiful mountains just outside Taos, and this cabin had everything I needed — quiet, warm and welcoming with wonderfully kind hosts. Definitely recommend it!” – Margaret from Airbnb
